Trail Work Thursday

WEATHER-RELATED UPDATE

Trail Work Thursday is Canceled for June 25.

Due to the weather forecast, our Trail Work Thursday event for later today has been canceled.

But don’t put your work gloves away just yet — mark your calendar for our next Trail Work Thursday, scheduled for July 30th! We hope you’ll join us then.

Roll up your sleeves and help keep Cazenovia’s trails beautiful! Every last Thursday of the month, from April to October, CPF board members, staff, and community volunteers gather for an evening of trail care and camaraderie.

We kick off each Trail Work Thursday at 4:30 PM at the St. Peter’s Church parking lot, where we divvy up tools, form work crews, and then head out to tackle a variety of projects. Afterward, enjoy refreshments courtesy of a CPF Board member at Meier’s Creek Brewing Company!

On June 25th we’ll be working at:

  • The Willow Patch—removing and bagging invasive Japanese knotweed, and spreading woodchips. Bring pitchforks, rakes and digging tools.

  • Fairchild Hill—cutting brush and trimming trees. Bring loppers, clippers, and hand saws.

  • The Gorge Trail Gateway—weeding, mulching ornamental trees, spreading wood chips, and staining the trail kiosk. Bring wheelbarrows, weeding tools, shovels, rakes and paint brushes.

We would appreciate donations of heavy duty contractor bags for bagging the invasive knotweed, as well as inexpensive paint brushes for staining the trail kiosks.

Be sure to wear sturdy shoes, clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, and work gloves, and bring a water bottle.

RSVP to pengasser@cazpreservation.org to help us plan our projects. In case of inclement weather, cancellations will be posted by 3:30 PM at cazpreservation.org/events.

High school students can earn volunteer hours, but those under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
