Nestled in the rolling hills along the north shore of Eatonbrook Reservoir is the Schapiro Farm —a treasure where 370-acres of forests, meadows, wetlands, and shoreline come together in a landscape of extraordinary beauty. Hand-stacked stone walls, weathered barns, and open fields tell the story of nearly a century of care by the Schapiro family, whose deep love for this place has safeguarded its character.
Now, the Cazenovia Preservation Foundation has the rare opportunity to conserve this historic farm—protecting its landscapes and habitats forever.
This project brings with it both exciting opportunities—expanded programming, recreation, and environmental education, and important new responsibilities—ongoing stewardship, carefully planned public access, and the thoughtful repurposing of two historic barns.
The Campaign
To make this vision a reality, CPF has launched the Schapiro Farm Legacy Fund. As of August 7, 2026, we are 93% of the way to our goal of $500,000, thanks to:
grants from the Central New York Community Foundation and The Nature Conservancy,
a generous commitment from the Schapiro Family,
and private gifts from people like you!
