And the Winner is… Schapiro Farm Fundraiser Kayak Raffle Drawing

Jen Wong, CPF’s executive director, and Sarah Christiansen, development coordinator, drew the winning name at Fenner Conservation Pond.

We’re excited to announce that Paul Curtin is the lucky winner of the Schapiro Farm Legacy Campaign raffle and has won the Bonafide RS117 fishing kayak!

Congratulations, Paul! We hope you enjoy your new kayak and have lots of adventures out on the water.

And a huge THANK YOU to everyone who donated to the Schapiro Farm Legacy Fund and entered our raffle. Your generosity helped bring us one step closer to permanently protecting 370 acres of fields, forests, wetlands, and shoreline along Eatonbrook Reservoir.

Want to see the winning ticket drawn? Watch the video below! The drawing was held this morning, September 1, at CPF’s Fenner Conservation Pond.

Fundraising Update

Your gift will help permanently protect the Farm, ensure thoughtful stewardship of the land, and lay the foundation for environmental education, public programming, and outdoor recreation.

For nearly a century, sisters Susan Schapiro and Sally Vernon have cherished their farm on the north shore of Eatonbrook Reservoir. Now, they have chosen to donate this beloved place to the Cazenovia Preservation Foundation (CPF) so that its beauty and peace will be safeguarded forever.

To permanently protect and responsibly steward this property for generations to come, CPF has established The Schapiro Farm Legacy Fund to care for its 370 acres of fields, forests, shoreline, and wetlands.

Thanks to grants from The Nature Conservancy, the Central New York Community Foundation, gifts from the Schapiro family and the incredible generosity of supporters like you, as of September 1, 2026 we are nearly 99% of the way to meeting our fundraising goal. We have just $5,935 left to raise in order to meet our $500,000 target.

Become a Conservation Hero: Help Us Reach 100%

Conservation doesn't occur by accident. It happens because people like you decide to act.

Please consider making a gift—whether it's $10, $100, or $1,000—to help preserve wildlife habitat, protect water quality, safeguard historic barns, and conserve one of our area’s most treasured landscapes. Your gift may be the one that gets us to our fundraising goal.

Thank you!

If you’ve already contributed, told a friend about the project, or supported CPF in any way—thank you! We truly could not do this without you.

As a supporter, you become part of the community that protects the Schapiro Farm forever. When you stand at the edge of the Eatonbrook Reservoir and gaze across to the Schapiro Farm’s shoreline, forests, wetlands, and fields—know that because of you, these special places will remain just as beautiful for generations to come.

Thank you for stepping forward as a champion of conservation!
