On the last Thursday of the month, April through October (weather permitting), join CPF board members, staff, and other volunteers for Trail Work Thursdays. Spend an hour or two giving back to the trails you love—then join fellow volunteers for refreshments at a local Cazenovia favorite afterward!
On May 29th, we’ll be working at several trail locations across the area. Whether you’re looking for a family-friendly activity or want to dig into more rugged trail work, there’s a project for you.
Family-Friendly Trail Work at the Rippleton Center.
Meet at 4:30 p.m. at the Rippleton Center Map linkThis is a perfect introduction to trail stewardship for younger participants. We’ll start with a snack and story time, then head out for some hands-on cleanup along CPF’s South Trail. Activities may include picking up litter, tossing sticks off the trail, weeding invasive plants, or clipping back encroaching branches. Kids will love being part of this fun and meaningful experience.
For the following potential projects, meet at St. Peter’s Church parking lot (10 Mill Street) at 4:30 p.m.
Fenner Conservation Pond
Help prep the pond area for summer and CPF’s upcoming Learn to Fish/Fly Fish event. Tasks include trimming, raking, spreading gravel, and general site maintenance to make this a welcoming space for families and anglers alike.Fairchild Hill
Join the battle against invasive species! Volunteers will work to remove garlic mustard, an aggressive plant that threatens native biodiversity. This is a great opportunity to learn about invasive species while helping restore habitat. The Gorge Trail Gateway
Help with general maintenance on this popular village trail.
Helpful tools to bring (if you have them):
loppers or clippers
shovels
stone rakes
trimmers and mowers (for Fenner Conservation Pond)
Be sure to wear sturdy shoes and work gloves, and bring a water bottle.
At 6:30 p.m., we’ll wrap up the evening by gathering with Rippleton Center families and other CPF volunteers for refreshments on the lawn at Meier’s Creek Brewing Co.
