2026 Trail Work Season Begins!
It’s spring cleanup time! Come roll up your sleeves and help keep Cazenovia’s trails beautiful.
Every last Thursday of the month, from April to October, CPF board members, staff, and community volunteers gather for an evening of trail care and camaraderie.
We kick off each Trail Work Thursday at 4:30 PM at the St. Peter’s Church parking lot, where we divvy up tools, form work crews, and then head out to tackle a variety of projects. Afterward, you are invited to enjoy refreshments courtesy of a CPF Board member at Meier’s Creek Brewing Company!
This month, we’ll be working at:
The Willow Patch—spreading woodchips, pulling invasive knotweed, and picking up trash. Bring wheelbarrows, shovels/pitchforks/rakes, weeding tools, loppers or clippers
Fairchild Hill—reblazing trails from the parking lot towards Burlingame. Bring small chainsaws*, handsaws, shovels, claw hammers, pliers/vice grips
The Gorge Trail Gateway—weeding/refreshing landscape beds, spreading woodchips, racking gravel, and picking up trash. Bring wheelbarrows, shovels/pitchforks/rakes, loppers or clippers
Trail Kiosks—wear your painting clothes
*In order to work with a chainsaw on CPF property, you must be chainsaw safety certified and wear all appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, face shield, and chaps that cover from hip to ankle.
Be sure to wear sturdy shoes, clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, and work gloves, and bring a water bottle.
Please RSVP to pengasser@cazpreservation.org to help us plan our projects. In case of inclement weather, cancellations will be posted by 3:30 PM at cazpreservation.org/events.
High school students can earn volunteer hours, but those under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
