National Trails Day

June 3, 2023 Each year, on the first Saturday in June, CPF celebrates National Trails Day. For this year’s event, we are teaming up with Meier’s Creek Brewing Company and focusing on our popular Fairchild and Burlingame Trail Network.

We will offer a variety of guided hikes/walks on the afternoon of Saturday June 3, all starting and finishing at Meier’s Creek Brewing. Options will range from a moderate-paced 5-miler with some steeper terrain and a little bit of off-trail to a mellow stroll up to the top of Fairchild Hill for a look back down at the view (a 0.75 mile round-trip hike at an accommodating pace).

Hikes will depart throughout the afternoon, beginning at noon for the longer hikes, with the goal of gathering all the groups at Meier’s Creek between 3-4 to swap trail stories and enjoy some refreshments from the beer tent or an item from the special grill menu set up for the day. Hikes are free and open to the public. Refreshments are menu-price and purchased directly from Meier’s Creek Brewing Co. on the day of the event. To see the full list of hikes and information on this and other upcoming events, visit www.cazpreservation.org/events.

For the Kids: Nature Photo Scavenger Hunt - Bring your grown-up and a digital camera or smart-phone to National Trails Day. You can join the group scavenger hunt walk at 2:00 or stop by the registration table anytime from 12-3 to pick up a scavenger hunt list  and head out with your own family group. Snap a pic of each item you spot along the trail. Show us your  scavenger hunt photo library when you get back to the event table  after your hike and claim your special prize.
